HAIKU
- Kalakupua Playground, a community playground project to be undertaken
in a barn-raising style, has received a $10,000 donation toward its
$200,000 funfraising goal. The donation is from the Upcountry Rotary
Club through the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation Inc.
So far, the project has raised $65,000 toward its goal to build the
playground which is planned for May 11-16, according to Alison Bridge,
public relations coordinator. The playground is to be at the 4th Marine
Division Park in Haiku.
In expressing appreciation for the donation, members of the playground
committee helped Upcountry Rotary Club members in a workday Saturday
at the Boys and Girls Club of Maui at the Mayor Eddie Tam Memorial
in Makawao.
